Letter to a Standardized Test

You’re called a “test,”
But I prefer, “pest.”
It’s the government who gets to choose,
But in the end, I always lose.
You mold my brain,
And cause me pain.
The educators tell you “STOP!”
All the students will just “drop.”
It’s the government who gets to choose,
But in the end, I always lose.
Mindless robots cause much trouble,
They can only fill in the bubble.
You say you measure my progression,
“You’re limiting it,” is my confession.
The more you push, the more I fall,
You’re not getting it at all!
It’s the government who gets to choose,
But in the end, I always lose.
Intelligence is put to rest,
So your system’s not the best.
But it’s the government who gets to choose,
And in the end, I always lose.
