Eyes do not look out, but in,
Past the acts and clothes and skin,
To the heart and its rhythmic beat,
And through the body to the feet.
Eyes do not look out, but in,
Past the lies and tricks and sin,
To the secrets new and old,
And all the stories left untold.
Eyes do not look out, but in,
Past false smiles you’ve given,
To the hurt and to the pain,
And the life lived in vain.
Eyes do not look out, but in,
And when you’re gone they close again,
And all your thoughts are kept inside,
And with you they will always hide.
